Radiation Burn Treatment
Radiation Burns are most commonly seen as sunburn or from over exposure on a sun bed. To treat radiation burns you should:
- Remove the casualty from exposure to the sun by bringing them indoors if possible or moving them to an area of shade.
- Give the casualty frequent sips of water to ensure that heat exhaustion and dehydration does not occur.
- Cool the affected area with cold water. If the area is extensive, cool the burn under a cold shower or bath for at least 10 minutes or the pain is relieved.
If there is extensive blistering, or you are unsure, seek medical advice. If the sunburn is mild, use after-sun cream or calamine lotion.
