How can you build a good rapport with your client?

  • Actively listening to them
  • Asking questions to get a clear understanding of the situation
  • Explain things clearly using communication best for them (verbal/non verbal/Makaton/pictures)
  • Display empathy towards them and show you understand
  • Make a friendly gesture or improvise

To end the situation you should come to a conclusion, the best way to do this is by:

  • Avoid giving someone an ultimatum
  • Outline clear boundaries for acceptable behaviour
  • Offering face saving options
  • Finding a solution/alternative
  • Outline possible consequences
