Conflict Resolution

Conflict should be de-escalated as quickly and effectively as possible, below are a list of strategies that can be used as calming strategies:

  • Engage with the person on a positive level to build a good rapport
  • Negotiate a conclusion
  • Give the person space, don’t crowd them
  • Think about your posture, stance and position
  • Control your voice – keep it calm and reassuring, don’t shout as this could make the situation worse
  • Remove the audience
  • Regulating eye contact
  • Hearing them out
