Tasks Which Can Be Undertaken Following Specialised Training
All assistance with medication or other health related tasks including the collection of medication can only be undertaken if it has been detailed on the Client Support Plan.
Before staff may assist with any of the following tasks, effective training and testing of understanding and competence must be provided by a competent person, usually an appropriate health care professional:
- Pen devices (e.g. insulin)
- Nebulisers
- Inhalers
- Volumatics
- Gastric tubes
- Stoma care
- Changing of dressings, applying cream or ointment
- Suppositories
- Oxygen administration
