Kirklees DofE – WACKY (Wild Activities Challenging Kirklees Young People)
Kirklees DofE are offering three Gold Residential opportunities at our outdoor activity centre, Little Deer Wood. WACKY offers young people with disabilities, aged 13 – 25, the opportunity to take part in a wide and varied programme of activities during the summer holidays. There will be a choice of 10 activities a day that the young people can choose from such as arts & crafts, music, dancing, canoeing, archery, climbing, cycling, football, cricket, cooking, baking, fishing, visits to places of interest, canal boat trips, campfires and much more.
As a volunteer you will be expected to support the young people and help run the activities. You will also assist with aspects of the day to day running of the programme all of which will be under the supervision of experienced staff. All our instructors have undergone enhanced DBS checks and hold current First Aid Certificates. We are licenced by the Adventure Activities Service which is part of the Health & Safety Executive.
